The Fishing
From around the end of June the waters of the Zambezi start dropping and draining off the flood plains.
This puts the tigerfish into a feeding frenzy. This continues until the end of August and into September.
The fish are hungry and aggressive and the fishing super exciting! We will fish two fishermen to a boat
together with a local guide – we will fish towards the banks and also get our flies down deep! This is
very exciting, adrenalin pumping fishing at its very best. Tigerfish have cast iron jaws and are extremely
tough street fighters who usually get aerial at some point during the fight!
Tackle
It is best to use #8 or #9 rods, a good disc drag reel and very fast sinking lines. We usually use straight 20lb leaders and flies with wire traces.
Upstream Flyfishing will have a comprehensive range of Tigerfish flies available in store.

Last year we had incredible fishing at Illombe / Sekoma and so I am really excited about this trip. On our first group last year,
ten of us caught 12 fish of 10lbs and over – James and Ted caught 14 pounders! There is also good birding in the area and a real
opportunity to see quite a bit of game. One day on our way back to the lodge we came across a herd of elephant having a
swim and playing in the river – we parked off, watched and photographed them!
On the way home back to Livingstone airport at the end of the trip we get a chance to visit the magnificent Victoria Falls –
you can never ever see these falls too often.
I look forward to hearing from you and hope that you can join us and enjoy tigerfishing at its best!
